Cambodian mobile network operator, Cambodia Advance Communications - which trades as "qb" - has upgraded its 3G network to support HSPA download speeds of 14.4Mbps. The network had supported download speeds of 7.2Mbps before the upgrade.
"We're looking to improve our footprint by providing quality data and voice on a national level," qb's CEO, Alan Sinfield told local media. Sinfield did not reveal the cost of the upgrade, but said it involved "a fair amount of investment."
The project had been completed last month, and involved upgrading software and improving backhaul connections.
The faster speeds to the Capital city, as well as cities such as Battambang and Siem Reap and along major roads, he added.
The company does not hold a 2G license, and is in talks with the other operators in the country to secure a national roaming agreement for GSM services.
Cambodia is a highly competitive market, with five mobile networks. According to the Mobile World analysts, Qb had 51,000 customers at the end of last September, which at the time would have equated to a market share of just over 1 percent.
