During the launching ceremony, Viettel has showcased 5 typical bandwidth consuming services of 4G such as video streaming, liveTV, HD Video Call, Video Conference and VoD – VToD.
Achieving download/upload rate of up to 75Mbps/25Mbps, Viettel has successfully tested a trial 4G network, featuring high quality sound, high speed data transfer, high definition 1080P which offers users instant and unique experience.
To quickly roll out a 80BTS based 4G trial network in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities, Viettel has proactively deploying a major parts of the process including installation, system connection and service integration. The soft launch marks a new advance in mastering new technology as well as confirms that Viettel network capacity could support for an extremely high traffic of this kind of wirless broadband connections.
“In telecom, investment doesnot always introduce new services, especially new technology based ones. Infrastructure for 4G connections are the same case. Many infrastructure features that could support for 2G or 3G are unlikely to statisfy 4G” Viettel Telecom’s Director, Hoang Son shared. However, a quick trial can be an advantage.
Around 400 customers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh will be offered for Viettel’s 4G trial services during the first of May until the end of August. By this way, analysis will be conducted to evaluate key performance indicator (KPI) of 3G and 4G networks as well as the compatibility between 4G and existing 2G&3G. At the same time, the trial also enables Viettel to preliminary analyze customer’s demand for the services.
Even though the commercialization is thought to be by 2014 or 2015, Viettel has been mastering new technology and ready for the service.
Seven operators were licensed 4G but besides VNPT, Viettel and FPT Telecom, no other company has made any official announcements about their experiments.
